Vacatur is a legal proceeding where a court cancels or overturns a previous judgment, conviction, or sentence. When a conviction is vacated, it's treated as if it never occurred for many legal purposes. Vacatur can occur with or without prejudice. With prejudice means the case can't be retried. Without prejudice allows prosecutors to refile.
