Treasury sanctions Andrii Derkach as a Russia-linked operative in the 2020 election

Treasury designated Ukrainian lawmaker Andrii Derkach for trying to influence the 2020 presidential election with edited tapes, false corruption claims, and a pressure campaign aimed at Joe Biden. Treasury called Derkach an active Russian agent and later expanded sanctions around the network that spread his material. The action showed how foreign interference had moved beyond hacked emails into cross-border narrative laundering through politicians, media allies, and U.S. proxies (Treasury sanctions notices; DOJ indictment; Axios and PBS coverage).
