Anthrax letter to Senate Majority Leader Daschle contaminates Senate office building

An anthrax-laced letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle was opened in his Capitol Hill office, exposing staff and forcing the Hart Senate Office Building to close. The letter was part of the 2001 anthrax attacks that targeted Democratic senators and news organizations, creating a bioterror threat against Congress shortly after September 11.
