US-Iran Islamabad peace talks collapse as naval blockade is threatened

Vice President JD Vance left Islamabad on April 12 after marathon US-Iran peace talks brokered by Pakistan failed to produce an agreement. Iran rejected the US proposal requiring an end to its nuclear program, missile restrictions, and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for sanctions relief. Iranian officials told state media Iran would end the war on its own terms. Trump responded by threatening a full naval blockade, which U.S. Central Command announced would begin Monday at 10 a.m. EDT.
