GOP congressional candidate Danielle Stella calls for Ilhan Omar to be hanged for treason

Danielle Stella, the Republican candidate running to unseat Rep. Ilhan Omar in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District, tweeted: "If it is proven @IlhanMN passed sensitive info to Iran, she should be tried for #treason and hanged." A follow-up tweet included an image of a stick figure being hanged. Twitter permanently banned Stella for violating its policies against violent threats. Stella defended the posts and accused liberals of hypocrisy. She was running with the support of MAGA Republicans who had adopted Trump's relentless attacks on Omar. The incident was part of a documented wave of death threats Omar received as a sitting member of Congress — threats she directly attributed to Trump's rhetoric.
