House Passes FY2026 Minibus 397-28, Preserving NEA and NEH at $207M Each
The House passed a three-bill FY2026 appropriations minibus 397-28 on Jan. 8, rejecting Trump's proposed elimination of the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities. Both agencies were funded at $207 million — flat with FY2025 — despite Trump's budget calling for phased elimination. The package also rejected deep cuts to NSF, DOE Science, NIST, NASA, and the EPA. Sen. Patty Murray declared Congress, not Trump, would control appropriations.
