Nexstar and Tegna Announce $6.2 Billion Merger Deal

Nexstar Media Group and Tegna announced a $6.2 billion merger agreement in 2025 that would combine the two largest local television station owners in the United States. The deal would give the combined company 259 full-power stations reaching approximately 80 percent of U.S. TV households, with affiliations across ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC. Nexstar, already the largest U.S. TV station group after its 2019 acquisition of Tribune Media, would gain Tegna's 64-station footprint including major market stations.
