Judge Voids Comey and Letitia James Indictments, Rules Prosecutor Lindsey Halligan Was Never Lawfully Appointed
U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie dismissed indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York AG Letitia James, ruling that interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan's appointment to the Eastern District of Virginia was invalid. Halligan had exceeded the 120-day clock that began when interim U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert was appointed January 21, 2025. Currie held all actions taken under Halligan's defective appointment were unlawful exercises of executive power.
