Trump administration fires 20+ immigration judges who dismissed deportation cases
The Trump administration fires more than 20 EOIR immigration judges, including judges who had dismissed deportation cases against international students and activists, ruling the government lacked sufficient evidence, citing performance and "consistency with administration priorities." The firings mark the most aggressive executive interference in immigration court adjudication in EOIR's 40-year history. Immigration judges are civil servants appointed by the attorney general and have no Article III tenure protections.
