Acting attorney general fires 12 prosecutors who investigated Trump

Acting Attorney General James McHenry ordered the immediate termination of more than 12 career prosecutors from the Justice Department who had worked on the federal investigations of Donald Trump led by Special Counsel Jack Smith. The firings included members of both the January 6 case team and the classified documents case team. DOJ career staff associations condemned the terminations as politically motivated purges of the independent career civil service.
