Wave of death threats against FBI agents after Trump amplifies rage over Mar-a-Lago search

Within days of the August 8, 2022 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago for classified documents, a wave of death threats targeting FBI agents flooded social media — directly connected to Trump's incitement. On August 11, Ricky Shiffer, a Navy veteran who posted calls to kill FBI agents on Trump's Truth Social platform, attacked the FBI's Cincinnati field office with an AR-15-style rifle and nail gun before being killed in a standoff. On August 10, Adam Bies of Pennsylvania was charged with threatening to kill FBI agents in social media posts. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued internal bulletins warning of a surge in threats against federal law enforcement. The threats followed Trump's Truth Social posts calling the search "illegal" and stoking outrage among his supporters.
