Rep. Loudermilk becomes 29th House Republican to announce retirement
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) announced on Feb. 4, 2026, that he would not seek a seventh term in Congress, becoming the 29th House Republican to announce retirement or non-candidacy in the 2026 cycle. Loudermilk represented Georgia's 11th Congressional District, which Trump carried by 22 points in 2024, and chaired the House Judiciary select subcommittee investigating the original Jan. 6 committee. His retirement followed those of Earl Carter and Mike Collins, who left to run for the Senate, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who resigned her seat in January 2026 after breaking with Trump.
