ATF replaces zero-tolerance enforcement policy with revised administrative action policy
Following Executive Order 14206, the ATF replaced the Enhanced Regulatory Enforcement Policy (zero-tolerance enforcement) with a revised administrative action policy in May 2025. The new policy provides a fair framework for addressing violations uncovered during compliance inspections while protecting public safety. Federal Firearms Licensees whose licenses were previously surrendered, revoked, or denied under EREP can now reapply for licensing. (ATF, May 21, 2025)
