Florida Announces Plan to End All School Vaccine Mandates Affecting 3.5 Million Students

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo announced a proposal to eliminate all school vaccine mandates in Florida, affecting approximately 3.5 million K-12 students. The proposal would remove requirements for vaccines against measles, polio, hepatitis B, and other childhood diseases that have kept Florida schools largely disease-free for decades. The American Academy of Pediatrics and Florida Medical Association immediately opposed the plan.
