Supreme Court upholds McCain-Feingold campaign-finance law

On Dec. 10, 2003, the Supreme Court upheld major parts of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act in McConnell v. FEC. The ruling temporarily preserved restrictions on party soft money and electioneering communications before later decisions narrowed them.
