ICE cancels SEVIS records for 4,700 to 6,000 international students

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) initiates a coordinated campaign terminating the SEVIS records of approximately 4,700 to 6,000 international students for alleged immigration violations. Students receive little notice and face immediate loss of legal status. The terminations include students with no apparent violations and those for minor technical SEVIS errors made by schools, leaving universities unable to manage the sudden loss of status for their students.
