FBI seizes 650-plus boxes of Fulton County 2020 ballots

FBI Special Agent Hugh Raymond Evans executed a search warrant on Jan. 28, 2026, at the Fulton County Elections Hub in Atlanta, seizing over 650 boxes of ballots and election records from the 2020 presidential election. Evans drafted the warrant affidavit in 23 days, drawing probable cause claims from debunked election-denier allegations — some from individuals now serving in the Trump administration. Fulton County Superior Court Clerk Ché Alexander testified that the FBI refused her request to inventory the seized materials, and the FBI transported them to its Records Complex in Virginia, roughly 600 miles from Atlanta. Fulton County filed a Rule 41(g) motion on Feb. 4 to recover the materials; U.S. District Judge Jean-Paul Boulee denied the motion on May 6, 2026, but called parts of the government's case "misleading" and "troubling."
