Trump sanctions Supreme Leader Khamenei and senior IRGC commanders

Trump signed Executive Order 13876 imposing targeted sanctions on Ayatollah Khamenei, his office, and senior IRGC commanders including the naval, aerospace, and ground force chiefs. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin said this would block "literally billions" in assets. Foreign Minister Zarif was sanctioned July 31. This was the most direct personal targeting of Iranian leadership to date.
