University of Florida closes chief diversity office and eliminates all DEI positions under state law

The University of Florida shut its Office of the Chief Diversity Officer, terminated diversity-related staff positions, and redistributed DEI-related functions to general administrative offices after state anti-DEI directives and the passage of SB 266. The closures affected more than two dozen positions and eliminated programs that had managed faculty recruitment from underrepresented groups, supported first-generation college students, and coordinated accessibility services for students with disabilities. The UF action demonstrated concretely how state anti-DEI law translated into specific job losses and institutional withdrawal from services that universities had provided for decades.
