AIPAC launches United Democracy Project super PAC, entering direct campaign spending
AIPAC announced the creation of the United Democracy Project, a super PAC, in early 2022, marking the first time in the organization's 60-year history that it would spend money directly on elections. The UDP raised over $35.9 million and spent $32.9 million in its first cycle, winning seven of nine races it targeted. AIPAC simultaneously launched a traditional PAC for direct candidate contributions.
