Federal judge extends preliminary injunction blocking DOGE Treasury access
U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas in Manhattan extended a preliminary injunction blocking DOGE from accessing Treasury payment systems pending a 19-state attorneys general lawsuit. The judge allowed limited access only if individuals completed cybersecurity training by Mar. 24. Vargas wrote that without addressing security issues, "the potential consequences of a cybersecurity breach could be catastrophic." (AP News, Feb. 22, 2025)
