Two DOGE Staff at Social Security Administration Referred for Hatch Act Violations After Contact With Group Seeking to Overturn Elections

The Social Security Administration referred two DOGE team members to the Justice Department for Hatch Act violations after discovering they had been contacted by an unnamed political advocacy group seeking to use SSA voter roll data to overturn election results in certain states. One DOGE staffer signed a "Voter Data Agreement" and sent it to the advocacy group on March 24, 2025, without SSA knowledge or approval. DOGE members also circumvented IT rules to share private SSA data on outside servers — a potential Privacy Act violation — after a Maryland federal judge had ordered DOGE's SSA access suspended.
