Bessent Ethics Forms Show Unreported Ties to Wall Street Firms

Watchdog groups and journalists examining Scott Bessent's SF-278 financial disclosure reported that his filings showed previously undisclosed connections to financial firms whose operations fall under Treasury oversight. Bessent's macro hedge fund Key Square Group had made large-scale bets on sovereign bonds, currencies, and interest rate derivatives — the same instruments that Treasury policy directly moves through debt auctions, sanctions, and FSOC supervision. Ethics watchdogs flagged incomplete divestment documentation and gaps between reported income and known fund activity, raising questions about whether OGE's review had fully caught all potential conflicts.
