Trump Pardons 1,500 January 6 Defendants on Inauguration Day
President Trump signed clemency orders on Inauguration Day pardoning approximately 1,500 individuals charged or convicted in connection with the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack. The pardons included individuals convicted of seditious conspiracy, assault on police officers, and obstruction of Congress. The Department of Justice moved to dismiss charges against defendants whose cases were still pending, ending one of the largest federal prosecutions in U.S. history.
