Biden and Xi meet face-to-face at Woodside agree to resume military communications
President Biden meets Chinese President Xi Jinping for four hours at Filoli estate in Woodside, California, their first face-to-face meeting in a year and the first bilateral summit since the spy balloon incident poisoned relations. The two leaders agree to restore military-to-military communications, which China had cut in August 2022. They also agree to work together on AI risks to nuclear command and control, discuss fentanyl precursor trafficking, and explore resuming high-level drug enforcement cooperation. Biden says he will continue calling Xi a "dictator", and does so to reporters after the meeting, prompting another round of Chinese protests.
