Senate rejects first Iran War Powers resolution, 47-53, with only Rand Paul breaking ranks

The Senate voted 47-53 on March 4 to reject the first War Powers Resolution invoking the 1973 WPR to require Trump to cease Iran military operations within 60 days. Rand Paul was the only Republican to vote with Democrats; Democrat John Fetterman crossed over to vote against the resolution. The vote came hours after Senator Warren emerged from a classified briefing warning the war was "so much worse than you thought." Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voted with the Republican majority, though both would later break with their party on subsequent WPR votes.
