Biden signs executive order advancing environmental justice and climate action

President Biden signs Executive Order 14008, "Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad," establishing climate change as a national security and foreign policy priority and creating the White House Office of Domestic Climate Policy. The order directs federal agencies to eliminate fossil fuel subsidies, sets a goal of conserving 30% of U.S. lands and oceans by 2030, and establishes the Justice40 initiative to ensure 40% of federal climate and clean energy investments benefit disadvantaged communities. The action represents the most comprehensive federal climate policy since the Obama administration.
