Education Department turns Title I funds against states that do not comply

The U.S. Department of Education announced it would withhold Title I federal education funds from states that refused to comply with Trump administration directives on curriculum, DEI programs, and school choice policies. Education Secretary Linda McMahon sent notices to at least a dozen states warning that non-compliance would trigger funding reviews. The threat affected billions of dollars annually distributed to schools serving low-income students.
