Craig Callaway pleads guilty in the Atlantic City mail-ballot scheme

Craig Callaway pleaded guilty in federal court to procuring, casting, and tabulating fraudulent mail-in ballots in Atlantic City. Federal prosecutors said Callaway paid people about $30 to $50 to act as ballot messengers, then had ballots collected and cast for voters who later said they had not voted and had not authorized anyone to vote for them. The plea put a local political organizer, not the voters, at the center of the fraud and gave federal prosecutors control over the case.
