OBBBA Signed into Law — SNAP Work Requirements Expanded
SNAP work requirement of 80 hrs/month extended to ages 55–64, veterans, parents of teenagers, former foster youth, and people experiencing homelessness. Immigrants who are not legal permanent residents lose SNAP eligibility entirely. Households receiving LIHEAP lose the Standard Utility Allowance (~$100/month cut). States may no longer waive the 3-month time limit unless unemployment exceeds 10%.
