Trump issues executive order narrowing reciprocal tariff scope

President Trump signed an executive order on September 5 modifying the scope of reciprocal tariffs, adjusting product exclusions and country-specific rates as his administration prepared for Supreme Court review of the appeals court ruling. The White House argued the modifications demonstrated the tariffs fell within executive authority under IEEPA. Trade analysts noted the changes were calibrated to undercut the legal arguments that had led to the lower court's invalidation.
