Classified documents found at Biden office and home as Garland appoints Special Counsel Hur
Biden's personal attorneys discover classified documents from his vice presidency at the Penn Biden Center think tank in Washington, D.C. while packing up files in November 2022. They immediately notify the National Archives. Additional classified materials are found at Biden's Wilmington, Delaware home in January 2023, including in his garage near his Corvette. Attorney General Merrick Garland appoints former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur as special counsel to investigate. Biden says he is "surprised" by the discovery. Republicans immediately call for equal treatment compared to the Trump Mar-a-Lago investigation, noting the apparent hypocrisy of Biden's prior criticism of Trump's document handling.
