NRA Pushes Federal Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill to Override State Laws

The National Rifle Association intensified lobbying for the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act as the new Republican-controlled Congress convened, seeking a federal law that would require all states to recognize concealed carry permits issued by any other state. The bill, backed by Representative Richard Hudson and reintroduced in the House, would effectively nullify stricter state handgun permitting laws in California, New York, and other states. Opponents argued it violated the Tenth Amendment and would force permissive permitless-carry standards onto states that had enacted stricter laws.
