Rosa L. DeLauro has represented Connecticut's 3rd Congressional District since 1991, making her one of the longest-serving members of the House. Born March 2, 1943, in New Haven, Connecticut, to an Italian-American family, DeLauro is the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee in the 119th Congress. She previously chaired the committee during the 117th Congress, becoming the second woman to hold that position. Before Congress, she served as chief of staff to Senator Chris Dodd and as the first executive director of EMILY's List. A founding member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, DeLauro focuses on food safety, paid family leave, pay equity, education, and healthcare policy.
