Earl Warren

historical
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1953 to 1969 who led the unanimous Brown v. Board of Education (1954) decision, the Miranda v. Arizona (1966) decision requiring police to inform suspects of their rights, and the one-person-one-vote rulings that transformed legislative representation. President Eisenhower, who appointed Warren, later called it "the biggest damn-fool mistake I ever made."
