French PM proposes cutting worker holidays in 44B austerity plan
French Prime Minister François Bayrou's government fell on Tuesday, September 10, 2025, after a no-confidence vote triggered by his €43.8 billion austerity plan. The plan included eliminating public holidays like Easter Monday and Victory Day. Both far-left France Unbowed and far-right National Rally parties voted against Bayrou's government. Mass protests called "Block Everything" took place the same day. Bayrou becomes the fourth prime minister to fall under President Emmanuel Macron in two years.
Michigan judge dismisses all charges against 15 Trump fake electors
Judge Kristen Simmons of Lansing 54-A District Court dismissed all charges against 15 Michigan Republicans on September 9, 2025, ruling that prosecutors failed to prove the defendants intended to commit fraud when they signed false electoral certificates claiming Trump won Michigan in 2020. The defendants met covertly on December 14, 2020, in the basement of the Michigan Republican Party headquarters to sign documents falsely claiming to be the state's "duly elected and qualified electors." Simmons said the defendants "sincerely believed" there were election irregularities and were "executing their constitutional right to seek redress." Each faced eight felony charges including forgery and conspiracy to commit election forgery, with maximum penalties of 14 years in prison. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel called it a "very wrong decision," saying "they knew Donald Trump lost, they lied anyway." The ruling follows similar prosecutorial setbacks in Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia, leaving Wisconsin as the only state still actively pursuing fake elector charges.
K.P. Sharma Oli resigns as Nepal protesters storm parliament
K.P. Sharma Oli resigned as Nepal's Prime Minister on September 9, 2025, after Gen Z protesters stormed parliament and torched government buildings following a deadly police crackdown. Security forces killed 19 people on September 8 when protesters defied a government-imposed social media ban and marched on parliament demanding an end to corruption. The next day, tens of thousands breached police barriers, set fire to the Federal Parliament Building, Supreme Court, Prime Minister's residence, and homes of political leaders. Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was sworn in as interim Prime Minister on September 12, becoming Nepal's first female head of government. The protests, dubbed the "Gen Z uprising," were triggered by viral videos of politicians' children flaunting luxury lifestyles while youth unemployment reached 33%.
