Bondi Assigns U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton to Lead Epstein Probe

Hours after Trump's post, Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote "Thank you, Mr. President" on X and assigned U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton of the Southern District of New York to lead the investigation. Clayton, a former SEC chairman who had never been a prosecutor, leads the office that charged Epstein and convicted Ghislaine Maxwell. Months earlier, the DOJ had fired veteran Epstein prosecutor Maurene Comey.
