Support for abolishing ICE doubles to 46% after Renee Good killing exposes DHS lies

An Economist/YouGov poll taken Jan. 21, 2026 found 46% of Americans supported abolishing ICE, up from 27% in June 2025. The surge followed ICE agent Jonathan Ross fatally shooting U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good, 37, on Jan. 7 during a Minneapolis immigration raid. DHS claimed Good tried to run over Ross; video evidence showed her steering away. Mayor Frey called DHS statements "bullshit" and Senator Klobuchar said they contradicted evidence.
