Senate rejects ACA subsidy extension, credits lapse

The Senate, honoring the promise that ended the shutdown, voted on the enhanced ACA premium tax credits and rejected both a Democratic three-year extension and a Republican alternative, each 51-48. The credits expired Dec. 31, and KFF estimated marketplace premiums would rise 114% on average.
