Disney Pays $10M FTC Penalty for Children's Data Privacy Violations

The Federal Trade Commission levied a $10 million civil penalty against Disney for collecting and monetizing personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent across its streaming apps and online games. The FTC found Disney violated the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act by using children's viewing and gameplay data to target advertising. The settlement required Disney to overhaul its data collection practices and delete illegally gathered data.
