Biden confirms 234 federal judges most by any president at comparable point since Carter
By the end of his term, President Biden has confirmed 234 federal judges, more than any president since Jimmy Carter at a comparable point. The confirmed judges include 58% women, 50% people of color, and represent the most diverse cohort of federal judges in American history. The judges were confirmed with the narrowest Senate majority, a 50-50 Senate held only by Vice President Harris's tiebreaking votes, requiring extraordinary procedural effort. The Judiciary reshaped by Biden nominations includes significant numbers of public defenders and civil rights attorneys, a deliberate contrast to the corporate law background that has dominated federal courts. Biden also confirmed Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.
