DOJ Demands University of Virginia President Resign Over Diversity

The Justice Department sent a letter to the University of Virginia demanding that President Jim Ryan resign, citing the university's diversity, equity, and inclusion programs as violations of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. The letter alleged UVA's DEI offices discriminated against students based on race. UVA's Board of Visitors convened an emergency meeting to consider compliance, becoming the first major public university to face a direct DOJ demand for presidential removal over DEI.
