Operation Hawkeye Strike: U.S. and Jordan Launch 100+ Munitions Against 70 ISIS Targets in Syria

Operation Hawkeye Strike — named for Iowa's state nickname — deployed A-10 Warthogs, F-16 fighters, Apache helicopters, and HIMARS precision rocket systems alongside Jordanian F-16s to strike 70 Islamic State targets across Syria. The operation was the U.S. military's largest Syria strike package in years, responding directly to the Dec. 19 Palmyra ambush that killed two Iowa National Guard soldiers. The joint US-Jordan operation targeted ISIS command nodes, weapons caches, and personnel.
