Indiana Senate Rejects Trump Redistricting Map 31-19 as 21 Republicans Defect

The Indiana Senate voted 31-19 to reject Trump's congressional redistricting bill, with 21 of 40 Republican senators joining all 10 Democrats in opposition. The map would have cracked Democratic-leaning districts to create a 9-0 Republican congressional delegation. Senate President Pro Tem Rod Bray led the resistance despite Trump's threats, JD Vance's two lobbying visits, and White House meetings with state lawmakers. The defeat was the first time Trump's redistricting campaign was blocked by Republicans.
