Vance Meets Indian PM Modi in Paris Ahead of April India State Visit

Vice President JD Vance met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Paris on Feb. 12, 2025, to discuss energy diversification and U.S.-India trade. Modi was attending the AI Action Summit; the Paris meeting previewed the state visit Vance would make to India in April 2025 and set an agenda for bilateral discussions on reducing U.S. tariffs on Indian goods in exchange for increased Indian purchases of U.S. energy and defense equipment.
