PROTECT Our Children Act mandates a national child exploitation strategy
President George W. Bush signed the Providing Resources, Officers, and Technology To Eradicate Cyber Threats to Our Children Act, directing the Department of Justice to establish and implement a national strategy on the prevention and interdiction of child sexual exploitation. The law required ISPs to report known child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A and strengthened criminal penalties for exploitation offenses. It also expanded the ICAC Task Force Program by mandating new training, resources, and performance standards for participating agencies.
