Democrat Eric Gisler Flips Georgia House District 121 in Trump +22 Special Election Upset

Democrat Eric Gisler won a special election for Georgia House District 121 by 197 votes (50.85%-49.15%), flipping a seat in a district Trump won by 22 points the prior year. The district straddles Clarke and Oconee counties near Athens. Gisler improved his vote share from 65% to 82% in Clarke County and 26% to 36% in Oconee. The win narrowed the Republican majority in the Georgia House to 99-81. Republicans held the seat since at least 2015.
