Bayer proposes $7.25 billion Roundup settlement covering 125,000 active plaintiffs

Bayer AG and attorneys for Roundup cancer plaintiffs announced a proposed $7.25 billion class-action settlement on February 17, 2026. The settlement is designed to resolve approximately 125,000 active plaintiffs in U.S. state and federal courts, plus structured compensation for future claimants not yet diagnosed. Bayer secured an $8 billion bank loan facility to fund the settlement over up to 21 years. A federal judge granted preliminary approval in March 2026. Final court approval is scheduled for July 2026 — the same month the SCOTUS ruling in Monsanto v. Durnell is expected. A preemption ruling for Monsanto before final approval could allow Bayer to argue the settlement is no longer necessary.
