UAW reaches tentative deals with all three Detroit automakers ending 46-day strike
The United Auto Workers reaches a tentative agreement with General Motors, completing deals with all three Detroit automakers after a 46-day Stand Up Strike. The UAW had already struck tentative agreements with Ford on October 25 and Stellantis on October 28. Under the contracts, workers receive an immediate 11% wage increase, 25% total raises over the 4.5-year contract through April 2028, restoration of cost-of-living adjustments eliminated in 2009, and faster paths to top pay. Stellantis also agrees to reopen its shuttered Belvidere, Illinois assembly plant and build a $3.2 billion EV battery plant. Workers ratify all three contracts by November 17-18. UAW president Shawn Fain calls it the most notable union victory in a generation.
