Supreme Court Denies Kim Davis Petition to Overturn Obergefell Same-Sex Marriage Ruling

The Supreme Court rejected Kim Davis's petition seeking to overturn the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges same-sex marriage ruling. In an unsigned order, the justices denied review of a federal appeals court ruling upholding a $100,000 damages award to a gay couple Davis refused marriage licenses to while serving as Rowan County, Kentucky clerk. Davis was the only American with direct legal standing to challenge Obergefell.
